how to obtain a medical certificate
To obtain a Medical Certificate, go to http://www.faa.gov/pilots/amelocator/ and select an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). AME are not regular doctors, they have been approved by FAA to conduct a flight physical exam. When applying for a medical certificate, you must apply for Airman Man Medical and Student Pilot certificates. We recommend Class 1 for career oriented applicants; Class 2 or 3 for non-career oriented applicants. Class 3 is sufficient for all flight training, however all companies hiring pilots require Class 1 Medical. If you are applying for VA benefits, you must obtain Class 2. The AME will check your vision, blood pressure, EKG (Class 1 only) and perform other tests. The cost ranges from $65.00 t0 $100.00.
